10 Hidden Details You Might’ve Missed in Dispatch

Created by AdHoc Studio, Dispatch is a choice-driven narrative game where your decisions shape the story and influence its outcome. You play as Robert Robertson III, aka Mecha Man Blue, a superhero whose career takes an unexpected detour when his suit is damaged, forcing him to trade the battlefield for a desk at the Superhero Dispatch Network. As a dispatcher, Robert must coordinate a team of reformed villains turned superheroes, sending them on missions where their unique abilities, personalities, and team dynamics can make the difference between success and disaster.

But with so much happening across the story, it’s easy to overlook the little details hiding in plain sight. From subtle callbacks to easily missed connections between characters, Dispatch is packed with details that you might not have noticed on your first playthrough.

So, whether you’re a longtime fan or gearing up for another playthrough, here are 10 things you might’ve missed in Dispatch!

1. That henchman from Episode One makes a return!

Remember the henchman that Mecha Man Blue knocks out in the first episode? Well, if you recruit Phenomaman to your team, you can spot that same henchman in the Sardine in episode 5 being cornered by Phenomaman pouring his heart out to him!

2. Phenomaman lands on Flambae’s car.

In episode 4, Phenomaman crashes onto a car. But did you know it actually belongs to Flambae. No wonder he lost his temper at Waterboy in the breakroom. First his car gets pummeled, he’s had to interact with the public all day and to top it off Waterboy threw his lunch in the trash. Him throwing out the noodles was the straw that broke the camels back.

3. Coupe and Punch Up used to date.

That’s right! These two have a romantic history, which is revealed in the canon comic volume 3 Pas De Deux. And if you pay attention when they’re dispatched on missions together, you’ll notice that Coupe keeps track of how many times they’ve been sent out simultaneously. Furthermore, If you cut Coupe in episode 3 Punch Up pranks you. Coincidence? I think not!

4. Malevola is Sonar’s sponsor.

Here’s a connection you might have overlooked: Malevola is Sonar’s sponsor! It’s a small detail that adds another layer to their relationship and why Malevola pranks Robert in episode 4 if you cut Sonar from the team in episode 3.

5. Flambae made his own hero costume.

Flambae didn’t just put on a costume someone else made for him. He actually created his own hero outfit! It’s an easily missed detailed in his file at SDN. All the way from the pencil to the spandex. Who knew our fiery friend was so handy?

6. Invisigal wears her watch facing inward.

Take a closer look at Invisigal’s wristwatch. Rather than wearing it with the watch face positioned on the outside of her wrist, she wears it turned inward, towards her palm. This style of wearing a watch is sometimes associated with military personnel in active combat, as it can help protect the watch face from damage, minimise glare that might reveal their position, and allow them to check the time discreetly without drawing unnecessary attention (Ghassemi, 2023). Although Invisigal is not a soldier, this small detail evokes the practical considerations of someone accustomed to operating in potentially dangerous environments. It also subtly reinforces her role as a character who must remain alert to her surroundings, prepared to react quickly, and conscious of the risks she faces. While the watch’s orientation alone does not confirm a deliberate military influence, it offers an intriguing visual detail that contributes to her characterisation.

7. Blonde Blazer avoids harsh office lighting.

Have you noticed that Blonde Blazer doesn’t rely on harsh overhead office lighting, as seen in the Dispatching bullpen? Instead, she tends to rely on natural lighting or warm lamps to illuminate her space. It’s a subtle detail that aligns and aids her soft and welcoming personality.

8. Robert’s apartment has more rooms than you might think.

When we first enter Robert’s apartment we are shown a living room and bathroom. Many fans speculated that he didn’t have a bedroom, but in actuality Robert does! In Episode 4, you can spot that the bathroom door is different from the door seen in the living room. Then, in Episode Six, when Robert and Chase are talking outside, you catch a glimpse of the other room!

9. Invisigal and Golem hangout outside of work.

Their relationship isn’t exclusively limited to the workplace! Invisigal and Golem spend time together outside work, giving us a glimpse into their lives beyond the team. If sent on enough missions as a pair they talk about life outside of work, such as playing video games and sharing videos with one another, which is mentioned in the gameplay.

10. Golem can adopt the Kaiju!

And finally, here’s a wholesome little detail. If you send Golem to wrangle the Kaiju in episode 4, you are given the option for Golem to adopt it! Honestly, could this guy get any more lovable?
